Project C
Acoustic assessment of noise complaint at receptors from a 20MWe Capacity Market / STOR Power Generation Facility and corrective treatment
Project C Description
RODEng Consulting LLP employed to carry out acoustic survey of 20MWe Power Generation Site and to assess noise impact at local residential receptors.
An acoustic report was provided to the client for presentation to the local planning officer and a proposal to provide noise mitigation to reduce the noise level at receptor based positions and reduce specific disturbing frequencies at specific receptors.
Focus on engagement with local Environmental Health Officer due to resident complaints.
Target level reduction: Between 4 to 12dB requirement (NSR)
Total reduction achieved: From 4dB to 16dB dependent on receptor
Project Scope
- Acoustic Survey of site
- Acoustic survey of receptor levels
-Comparison to Planning Approval Levels
-Assessment of Trouble Frequencies. - Acoustic Report of installation and proposed mitigation measures
- Noise mapping of generators to establish breakout
- Acoustic Treatment and Mitigation Methods
- Supply, Installation and Validation of Acoustic Treatment
- Local Authority and Planning Validation with Council Acoustic Consultant
Site Assessment
- Receptor levels are above planning as overall dBA
- Receptor levels demonstrate specific 125Hz and 250Hz Tonal factors
- Low Frequency Breakout from Canopy
- Low frequency tonal noise from exhaust discharges of canopies
- Low frequency breakout from canopy bases
- Noise Impact is directional
